Note: the width is important. Most radiators with two or three panels (type 21, 22, 33) have a gap of 7 cm or more between the panels. SpeedComforts can be placed out of sight.
If there is a gap of less than 7 cm between the panels, you can attach the SpeedComfort using brackets. These brackets have magnets that slide in and out. SpeedComforts are then suspended on these brackets under the radiator. The minimum gap required between the panels for this solution is 3.8 cm.
The noise level of a SpeedComfort is less than 20 dB(A). This is a noise level that is lower than rustling leaves.
The power of the SpeedComfort is so small that no contact noise is produced. However, each radiator makes its “own noise”. The same applies, to a lesser extent, to convectors. In exceptional cases this can be experienced as a mild issue.
The fans are extremely economical. Based on 1,000 running hours in a year, a SpeedComfort consumes less than £0.16 on electricity per year.
The adapter is loss-free, which means you do not consume power if the SpeedComfort is not working.
(for comparison: if you leave a “normal” adapter in the wall socket for a year, you can spend approximately £6.00 on electricity).
The rule of thumb for the total number of SpeedComforts required is:
One SpeedComfort moves approximately 30 m3 of air per hour. The air in a room should preferably circulate once per hour.
Calculation example: a living room of 5 metres wide, 8 metres long and 3 metres high has a capacity of 120 m3. In this case, a Trio set with an Extension set, or two Duo sets are required.
Bear in mind you need an average length of 50 cm to put a SpeedComfort in place. Therefore, three are required for a radiator/convector of 1.60 m.
You can connect up to 20 SpeedComforts, using one adapter. Expansion sets can be found in the e-shop. These always include a 30 cm connection cable.
To bridge the distance between radiators/convectors, there are 0.60 m and 1.20 m extension cables in the e-shop.
In order to make optimum use of the possibilities offered by the SpeedComforts to save energy and increase comfort, it is important to select the right radiators/convectors in the home. These are usually found in the living areas.
Use the SpeedComfort as many times as required, depending on the length of the radiator/convector. They can be used with a 30 cm connection cable
SpeedComforts have an external thermostat switch. This is placed near the hot water supply with magnets. When the radiator or convector close to the thermostat switch gets to 33 degrees, the fans will turn on automatically. As a result, the radiator/convector moves heat more quickly from the radiator into the room. The room is brought to the desired temperature more quickly, and the heat is also better distributed.
The fans stop when the temperature of the radiator/convector falls below 25 degrees.
Installing the SpeedComforts is very easy. Thanks to the magnets built into the side, the SpeedComfort “clicks” onto the radiator. Look at where the wall bracket and the connection clip between the two panels. The magnets slide in and out on one side, so the two panels of the radiator can always be used for fastening.
The supplied external temperature-sensitive switch is put in place near the hot water supply, also with magnets.
The power supply only fits on one side. Ensure the SpeedComfort is placed in such a way that this side is closest to an outlet. Multiple units can be connected with the supplied connection cable.
IMPORTANT: The completely open side is the underside. Make sure the SpeedComfort is not placed upside down. Placing it upside down will result in the flow of the warm air upwards being counteracted instead of reinforced.
If the gap between the radiator panels is less than 7 cm, choose the “Narrow” version. Brackets with magnets that slide in and out can be slid onto the same SpeedComforts. The SpeedComforts can be hung under the radiator using these brackets.
And if you have a convector or convector ducting, choose the “Convector” version. These are supplied with feet that click under the SpeedComforts.
The SpeedComforts have been developed to be placed out of sight, at the bottom of a radiator. However, the SpeedComforts function just as well if they are placed on the top, between the panels of the radiator. Radiators often have a grid on the top, under which the SpeedComforts can be hidden from view. Keep in mind, however, that the higher temperature at the top will affect the lifespan of the fans.
SpeedComforts offer a solution for most radiators.
The SpeedComforts can be put in place between two radiator panels with a gap of at least 7 cm.
For radiators with a gap of less than 7 cm, use brackets with magnets that slide in and out. (the “Narrow”)
SpeedComforts with brackets can be placed under a single panel radiator (type 10 or 11). (the 'Single Plate') Note: a gap of at least 5.5 cm between the back of the radiator and the wall is required.
Old panel radiators sometimes have no convection fins between the panels and are not very suitable.
Old, cast iron radiators are not suitable for the SpeedComfort.
You can find brackets with magnets that slide in and out, and that you can slide over the SpeedComforts, in the accessories section of the e-shop. These allow the SpeedComfort to be hung under the same radiator.
Yes, quite a lot in fact. The majority of the heating installations in the Netherlands are not propertly balanced. On average it uses much more energy than actually needed.
Installers usually automatically set your central heating temperature on standard factory settings: 80-85 degrees Celsius. Manually lowering the setpoint temperature to 60 degrees Celsius will result in optimum energy efficiency. This is similar to hr-boilers.
Most likely the setpoint of your water temperature is too high. If the temperature is 80 degrees Celsius or higher, the natural hot air stream will be high. That sounds right, but has several downsides:
1. If the thermostat switches off because the set temperature has been reached, the radiator is still very hot, causing the room temperature to rise another 2-3 degrees Celcius.
2. As a "solution" to this problem, the thermostat is usually set to 18 degrees Celsius. This means the room also has to cool down to an uncomfortably cold temperature below 18 degrees.
3. If the water from the radiator returns to the central heating boiler at 60 degrees Celsius, a lot of energy is wasted unnecessarily.
4. High air temperatures cause strong air streams in the room, causing more dust and fine particles to flow through the room.
Therefore, if the settings remain on a high water temperature, you wil still be wasting energy, even with SpeedComfort!
The primary goal of SpeedComfort is to lower the central heating temperature. Meaning:
1. Greater comfort in your home. The speedcomfort ventilator draws heat from your radiator, heating the room quicker and more evenly.
2. Save energy. SpeedComfort allows you to lower the water temperature of your central heating, easily saving 10% of your energy use
We chose to have the SpeedComfort put together by a Dutch company that only works with people who are disadvantaged in the labour market. The choice to use SDO Werkt was made
We choose to cooperate as much as possible with Dutch companies. If that does not work, we will search in the Euro area. We only use Asian suppliers as a last resort.
Almost all parts in the SpeedComfort come from the Netherlands or Europe. An exception is the loss-free power supply. If no load is applied, it will not consume electricity. These cannot be found in Europe, so we chose a product from China.
All the parts in the SpeedComfort are reusable.
In addition, the casing is made of a bio-based material. This means no fossil resources have been used. If required, the casing can be disposed of in the ground. This is because the material used is also “biodegradable”.
Don’t worry: it will not break down under a radiator or on a convector.

We opted for a hassle-free power supply that does not require the changing of batteries. In addition, a battery is anything but durable. Which is another reason not to choose them.
Although the SpeedComfort requires hardly any power, the time between replacing batteries would be very short. This is expensive, unsustainable and a hassle.
We also thought about using a solar panel in the windowsill. The disadvantage of this is that there is not much (sun) light during the heating season. Moreover, you still have to store power in a battery during the day because the SpeedComfort will work mainly in the evening. So this was also not an option.
1. The SpeedComfort will only work (automatically) when the radiator is warmer than 33 degrees at the thermostat switch. If you operate the adapter in the SpeedComfort without the thermostat switch, you can test the SpeedComfort. The fans will then start to run. If you want to test the thermostat switch, you can do so by holding a heated knife against the switch.
2. Are you sure the power outlet the SpeedComforts are connected to is working?
3. Are you sure the plug is plugged in properly and that the plug is fully plugged into the SpeedComfort?
4. Is there a good contact between the thermostat switch and the radiator panel?
5. Is the temperature of the radiator close to the thermostat switch (at least) 33 degrees? If not, bleeding and/or balancing can solve this problem.
